I’m the founder of Aquamentor, a family-owned manufacturer of aquatic safety equipment based in Garwood, New Jersey. We’ve been making rescue tubes, marine cushioning, and related aquatic gear since 1983. Most of what gets written on this site comes out of conversations with the head guards, aquatic directors, and pool operators we’ve sold to for forty years — and out of forty years of watching tubes come back broken, surviving, or in some cases working better than I expected.
The site exists because the body of practical knowledge on rescue tubes has historically lived in lifeguard certification manuals and operations binders that aren’t public. I wanted to get it on the open web where guards, head guards, and the people speccing equipment for new facilities can actually find it.
Disclosure
Aquamentor manufactures and sells the ExoTube, the 50″ closed-cell foam rescue tube referenced throughout this site. Where I recommend a closed-cell foam tube of a particular length, I’m recommending the design class — not specifically our product. I’ll point at the ExoTube when it fits the recommendation. I won’t pretend we don’t make it.
